Power Home Remodeling Group, the nation's fourth largest home improvement company, has teamed up with Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) a nationally recognized charitable foundation focused on helping to cure childhood cancer. The organization was founded as the front yard lemonade stand of Alexandra, Alex Scott (1996-2004) and soon emerged into a nationally recognized charitable foundation focused on helping to cure childhood cancer.
Earlier this summer, Power Home Remodeling presented a $106,000 check to Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) to help the group's fundraising efforts. Now the company has pledged to donate additional funds on behalf of its remodeling customers. Here's how it works: Power will contribute $1 per window, $1 per square of siding and $1 per square of roofing purchased on every installation throughout the year.
In addition, Power will set up an Alex's Lemonade Stand at each of our offices nationwide, with all proceeds going to ALSF and will underwrite the 1st annual Power Run (5K) for Alex's in Pennsylvania this October 2nd with all proceeds going to ALSF. Power will be a primary sponsor at other ALSF throughout the year as well.
Additionally, Jeff Kaliner, co-founder and chief executive officer of Power will join ALSF's 11 existing Board Members in an effort to help the foundation grow and succeed in fulfilling Alex's vision of finding a cure for childhood cancer. As a new Board Member, Kaliner recognizes the importance of staying true to Alex's front yard beginnings and is committed to serving the foundation's mission in the spirit of children who remain optimistic and caring throughout their battle with cancer.
At the age of 4 and stricken with cancer since the age of 1, Alex told her parents she wanted to setup a front-yard lemonade stand. Her plan was to give the money she collected to doctors in order to help them find a cure. Astonishingly, her first stand raised $2,000 in one day!
Since Alex held her first stand, the Foundation bearing her name has evolved into a national fund raising movement, complete with thousands of volunteers across the country carrying on her legacy of hope.
Since Alex passed away at the age of 8, Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation has gone on to raise more than $35 million towards fulfilling Alex's dream of finding a cure, funding over 150 cancer research projects nationally.
