PHOENIX, AZ -- Capital Lumber Company has entered into an agreement with Craftmark Inc. to exclusively manage the inventory and act as sales agents for Tru-Dry® timbers. Mothballed since 2010, the HeatWave Radio Frequency Vacuum (RFV) kilns are once again operational under the management of Craftmark Inc.
Craftmark's history with the management and sales staff of Forest Grove Lumber, the previous owners of the RFV kilns, brought to light the opportunity to bring the 8 kilns back to life and Tru-Dry timbers back to the market.
Denny Elmer, President of Craftmark, stated, "We have been working for a while to obtain this technology. With the technical oversight of one of the original operators of the RFV kilns and the sales acumen of original salespeople who are now with the resources already at Capital, we will be well prepared to bring Tru-Dry back to market."
Gene Secco and Ryan Williams, both formerly with Forest Grove Lumber, have joined the Capital sales team and will spearhead the inventory management and sales of Tru-Dry timbers. They join the sales team of Lynn Goode, Scott Shamrell, Julie Moss and Jerry Steele as well as the manager of Capital's Portland operations, Jim McCluskey.
Mr. McCluskey remarked, "This is a great opportunity for Capital and a perfect pairing of resources. The Tru-Dry brand is well known and there has been a noticeable void in the timber business without it. Our local expertise and companywide resources are familiar with the activities that result in accelerated market acceptance of such products and this is sure to prove successful."
The HeatWave RFV kiln drying process is the only method that gently and evenly dries timbers to 19% moisture content or less, all the way to its core. The process, known as volumetric heating, achieves an even moisture content distribution resulting in minimal drying defects commonly found in conventionally dried or green timbers.
