Housing and construction continued its rebound last month, as the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported last week that the construction sector added 48,000 jobs in February. Since September, construction employment has risen by 151,000.
The largest growth in the sector was for specialty trade contractors, which added 17,000 jobs on the residential side, and another 15,000 positions in the non-residential sector. Civil engineering and heavy construction accounted for 8,200 jobs.
Overall employment in February grew by 236,000, bringing the unemployment rate down to 7.7 percent.
