TUCSON, AZ --Shamrocks popped up at Lowe's stores across the country this spring as Lowe's and its customers raised $8.8 million during the Muscular Dystrophy Association's seven-week Shamrocks campaign.
Shamrocks sales at Lowe's stores, regional distribution centers and corporate offices assist MDA in providing critical service programs and help send thousands of children with neuromuscular diseases to nearly 80 MDA summer camp sessions throughout the U.S.
"Without the giving spirit of our customers, the success of the campaign wouldn't be possible," said Joan Higginbotham, Lowe's director of community relations. "Thank you to everyone who participated, including our dedicated employees who help make the campaign a success."
Lowe's and its customers have raised more than $38 million for MDA since 2001. In addition to their fundraising efforts, Lowe's employees volunteer at MDA summer camps and other events throughout the year.
"Lowe's has been a remarkable partner in our Shamrocks campaign," said MDA President and CEO Steven M. Derks. "We thank all the hardworking employees and generous customers who continue to help families affected by muscle disease."
