Each year, the U.S. Department of the Census compiles a list on the characteristics of new housing completed that year. The stats provide some interesting insights into what builders feel are the most in-demand features that might interest buyers.
The survey also reveals some stunning long-term trends. In 1973, for instance, air conditioning was only in 49 percent of new homes. In 2012, A/C was included in 89 percent of new homes.
