CHICAGO -- True Value Company, one of the world's largest retailer-owned hardware cooperatives, announced that Busy Beaver Home Improvement Centers and Miami Home Centers have joined the co-op as the newest members.
Busy Beaver was founded in 1962 in Pittsburgh as a distributor of roofing, lumber and building material products to professional contractors and do it yourself customers. Today it operates 16 full-line home improvement centers in Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia.
"We're thrilled for our customers and associates that Busy Beaver will now partner with True Value," said Chief Executive Officer of Busy Beaver Joe Kallen. "Busy Beaver and True Value are both focused on transformational change to better serve our customers; this fundamental alignment in strategy is what sold us on selecting True Value as our growth partner."
Miami Home Centers is a family-owned and operated business which first opened its doors in 1954. Since then, they have expanded to meet the needs of hardware and home improvement consumers in South Miami, Pinecrest, Tamiami and Miami Beach.
"Becoming a part of the True Value family and having access to exclusive brands further supports our competitive edge," said Dan Hitchcock, owner of Miami Home Centers. "One of the primary drivers of converting to True Value was being able to offer our customers their private label paint, Easy Care," said Hitchcock.
As a successful retailer for more than 30 years, Hitchcock knows the value of being able to offer customers top-rated paint. True Value paint has been rated the No. 1 best value among the top 10 rated paints by a leading consumer magazine.
"Our top priority is helping our Members achieve retail excellence while accelerating their growth and profitability," said True Value's Senior Vice President of Growth Tim Mills. "We're thrilled to welcome Miami Home Centers to the True Value family and become their trusted partner as they continue to grow their entire business, including paint."
