CANTON, OH -- Schumacher Homes, America's Largest Custom Homebuilder, took home the Gold Award for "Best Website for a Builder" (www.schumacherhomes.com) from the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) international competition in Las Vegas in January.
"We strategically redesigned our website to reflect what customers need to make their home building journey informative and valuable," says Mary Schumacher Becker, VP of Sales and Marketing for Schumacher Homes. "This Gold Award represents the united spirit of our design and development team, as well as their tireless efforts to offer the best online experience to our homeowners."
With more than 140,000 members, the NAHB honors superior sales and marketing achievements each year at The Nationals Awards Gala during the International Builders' Show. According to the NAHB, winners of The Nationals are subject to a three-day judging process by some of the industry's finest marketing professionals, architects, builders, market-research consultants, trade publishers, and senior editors.
"A stand-out feature of our website are our inspiration boards," says Becker. "We used a password-protected format that allows our homeowners to privately collect the photos and floor plans that inspire them, and to share them with their new home consultant with one click of a button."
Becker says the inspiration boards serve Schumacher Homes customers well to organize their thoughts and inspiration all in one place. For a step-by-step instruction on how the site's inspiration boards work, check out this tutorial video.
The company also implemented location targeting, so homeowners could be served with home plans with architecture fitting to their region of the country.
"Our homes plans are often a reflection of the local area, as well as a reflection of our homeowners," says Becker. "For those building on the coast in South Carolina to the French country architecture of New Orleans to the mountain retreats of North Carolina, our location targeting helps homeowners bypass plans that might not be architecturally appropriate for their region."
Schumacherhomes.com is equipped to educate potential homeowners about the building process, says Becker. The site provides information on what to anticipate in each stage of construction, new home financing, floor plans and customizations as well as an online chat feature that allows customers to get answers to their questions in real time.
Becker says the bottom line of the site's development centered on the company philosophy, "Your Inspiration has a Home," and SchumacherHomes.com provides an excellent portal for web-based customers to clearly and simply search for and chronicle their inspiration, but Becker notes that there is still no substitute for visiting Schumacher Homes Model Homes and Design Centers.
"Our models and design studies exist for our customers to experience the quality of our homes first hand, and see all the benefits of a new home versus a used home," says Becker. "We invested in these for our customers. You just can't get the same feeling from looking at a two-dimensional floor plan on a website."
Schumacher Homes Model Homes and Design Studies are open seven days a week.
