|APA – The Engineered Wood Assocation has created a Wall Bracing Calculator freely available through their website, www.APAWood.org. The tool is designed to simplify the design of residential structures that comply with 2009, 2012, and/or2015 International Residential Code (IRC) wall bracing requirements and intended for use by designers familiar with wall bracing.
The APA Wall Bracing Calculator allows designers familiar with wall bracing to:
- Create a project and identify its pertinent details.
- Pictorially identify and calculate the bracing requirements of each braced wall line.
- Pictorially identify, qualify, and locate each bracing segment on a given wall line.
- Export the results to a printable document.
Additionally, the tool is flexible enough to allow designers to import an existing project into its database or create a new project from scratch. It allows several fields of input including design wind speed, wind exposure category, cripple wall, and more.
