A series of webinars offered by the Forest Products Management Development Institute (FPMDI), Department of Bioproducts and Biosystems Engineering, and Dovetail Partners will address key aspects of green marketing and related trends. The series, Positioning for Green – Opportunities for Forest Products, includes five online events that participants can access from their offices or home computers. The third webinar in the series will take place on February 25th and will examine the fundamentals of sourcing and selling certified wood.
"There are an estimated 4,500 chain-of-custody certified companies in the United States and Canada and this number grew by about 20% over the past year. These companies and the companies they do business with have the opportunity to increase the benefits of participating in chain-of-custody certification through marketing," says Dr. Jeff Howe, an expert on green business and green marketing, and webinar presenter.
The webinar on February 25th will examine trends in forest certification, consider implications for builders and manufacturers and distributors of construction products, and address the fundamentals of green marketing – including positioning and customer communications.
"Above all, the positioning process is strategic, as it sets the context by which the relationship between the organization and its vendors and customers is built; and it establishes the basis upon which the organization attempts to compete," says Howe.
