| PHOENIX, AZ -- (PRNewswire) In an effort to promote home ownership among Hispanics living in and around Phoenix, Bank of America will host the "Hispanic Home Show," the first major homebuyer education program of its kind entirely in Spanish. The event will take place on Saturday, May 31, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the El Zaribah Shriners Auditorium, 552 North 40th Street (just south of the 202) in Phoenix.
"The American dream isn't complete without owning a home, but that dream remains elusive for many Hispanics," said Cecilia Hernandez, Bank of America consumer executive for the Southwest Region. "Only 46 percent of Hispanics nationally are homeowners, compared to the overall national average of 66 percent. The one obstacle preventing many Hispanics from attaining the American dream is education about and an understanding of the home buying and ownership process. Our home show is designed to eliminate or reduce that obstacle as much as possible."
The Bank Of America Hispanic Home Show will feature educational seminars and workshops in Spanish for participants who want to be informed and educated about all aspects of home ownership and home improvement by experts in their fields. Seminars will cover housing discrimination, saving and managing money, advantages and disadvantages of home ownership, overview of the home buying process and information on HUD (Housing and Urban Development) homes.
The free, one-day event will feature information, products and services related to home buying, home ownership, home improvement and maintenance. Representatives of more than 30 home mortgage, realty, insurance, heating and cooling, home sales, communications, alarm, construction and remodeling companies among others will be on hand to answer questions.
Bank of America also will host its homebuyer workshop, designed to take the mystery out of home ownership and to answer the questions prospective homebuyers may have about finding and buying a home
