| NEW YORK -- (PRNewswire-FirstCall) McGraw-Hill Construction, in cooperation with the China International Contractors Association (CHINCA), announced its program for the jointly organized Global Construction Summit which will take place April 14-16, 2004 at the Kempinski Hotel in Beijing, China. The conference, which is expected to attract over 350 construction industry related executives from all over the world, is designed to promote communication and business opportunities.
"Today, China is the third largest and the fastest growing construction market among the top 10 countries," observed Norbert W. Young, Jr., FAIA, president of McGraw-Hill Construction. "Activity is being spurred by China's entry into the World Trade Organization, its selection to host both the 2008 Olympics in Beijing and the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai, and the enormous amount of manufacturing taking place for domestic and internationally based companies."
A wide variety of experts will be speaking based on their industry experience as planners, architects, engineers, owners, contractors, and building product and equipment manufacturers. Key construction industry executives who will be speaking, include leaders of the top Chinese design and construction firms, such as China State Construction Engineering Corp, Shanghai Construction Group, China Architecture Design & Research Group, and Shanghai Xian Dai Architectural Design (Group) Co. Participating in the panel discussions will be executives from over 20 foreign companies. World-renowned design and construction firms which will be represented include Bechtel, AECOM, Fluor, Arup, Bovis Lend Lease, Washington Group International, Perkins & Will, Sasaki Associates, Perkins Eastman Architecture, MWH. The Summit will address a wide range of hot industry issues in China's domestic market and major world markets.
