| WASHINGTON -- The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and Professional Builder magazine currently are accepting entries for the 2004 Best in American Living Awards (BALA). To be eligible for the 2004 competition, entrants must register by July 1, 2004 and submit completed entries by July 15, 2004.
Open to builders, architects, designers, developers, land planners and interior designers nationwide, the BALA design awards are the homebuilding industry’s most coveted accolades in residential architecture and interior design. Homes completed or for which the first model opened between May 1, 2003, and July 15, 2004, are eligible for this year’s competition.
The 2004 competition includes 41 categories, ranging from single-family detached, attached and custom homes to interior design, affordable housing, smart growth communities and rental communities. Entries are judged on criteria including exterior design/curb appeal, interior architecture and interior design, site plan, sales success of the product, construction quality and cost efficiency.
Winners will be announced during an awards gala at the 61st Annual NAHB International Builders' Show, January 13-16, 2005, in Orlando, Florida. Additionally, the BALA winners will be showcased on Professional Builder’s Web site, HousingZone.com, for up to one year after the ceremony. Complete details, including eligibility requirements and an application form, are available online at: http://www.housingzone.com/design/bala2003/2004.asp
