| Arch Wood Protection and Arch Treatment Technologies, sister companies that manufacture wood preservatives and license the production of some of the best known brands of pressure-treated wood, have announced formation of a four-person marketing team dedicated to promoting its brands nationwide.
Steve Snyder, vice president of sales and service, says the team will elevate awareness and appreciation for the brands, which include Wolmanized® wood, FrameGuard™ borate-treated wood, Dricon® fire retardant treated wood, and FRX® exterior fire retardant treated wood. “Our team will contact buying groups, builders, contractors, specifiers, and code officials, providing information and assistance for their choice of treated wood. We have put together a group of experienced people to get the message out.”
Heading the team is Kirk Hammond, who held various sales, marketing, and management positions at Georgia-Pacific, Columbia Forest Products, Walker-Williams Lumber, and Columbus Lumber before joining Arch in 2003. He spearheaded the launch of Arch’s program for borate-treated wood. In addition to his work experience, Kirk has earned an M.S. degree in Business Administration from Auburn University at Montgomery. He is relocating to the company headquarters in Smyrna, Georgia.
Working with Kirk are Kris Owen, Ken Trainor, and Erin Canosa.
Kris Owen has served for more than 30 years in marketing and sales functions, covering forest products, roofing materials, and windows in domestic and international markets. His experience includes product introductions, multi-product presentations, and architectural promotion, spanning both domestic and international markets. He worked for Koppers Company, Marvin Windows, and Lee Lumber before joining Arch in 2002. He lives in Valparaiso, Indiana.
Ken Trainor, who resides in Hawley, Pennsylvania, has also spent working career in the building products industry, primarily involving windows and pressure-treated wood. Over the past two decades he worked for Jaeger Lumber, Kodiak, SNE Enterprise, and Quality Forest Products before being hired by Arch in 2002. His responsibilities have included sales, product introduction, special projects, and management.
Erin Canosa, a chemical engineer by education, worked for Olin Corporation in computer systems capacities before Arch Chemicals was spun off and Arch Wood Protection was formed. Most recently she served as manager of market insights, providing information for brand strategies, marketing assessments, product commercialization, and competitive intelligence. She is based in Smyrna, Georgia.
The marketing team is incorporating both traditional promotional vehicles, such as trade show participation and presentations at meetings, and innovative approaches using customized strategies.
“We have some of the most widely respected brands in our industry,” said Snyder, “and this team is making sure that users and influencers know why they have earned that level of respect. The objective is to generate pull-through demand that will benefit the licensed producers of our brands.”
