| Green is gaining, according to the latest data from the EPA. More than 2500 office buildings, schools, hospitals, and public buildings, representing 482 million square feet, earned EPA's ENERGY STAR for superior energy and environmental performance in 2005.
According to the EPA, those buildings save a combined $349 million annually in lower energy bills, while eliminating almost 2 billion pounds of greehouse gas emissions.
