| One of Padre Island, Texas' most luxurious and ambitious condominium projects had a decidely less glamorous ending last December than the one envisioned by its developers. Construction was halted on the 31-story Ocean Tower in 2008 after inspectors discovered that the structure was sinking--more than 14 inches in some places.
In December 2009, the "Leaning Tower of Padre" as it became known as, was abandoned and imploded before completion:
